Marcel & Elizabeth Bergman (piano 4 hands), Jasper Wood (violin), and Sungyong Lim, (cello). ‘Pocket’ ensembles offer an opportunity to bring a fresh and new take on a celebrated work such as Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, probably one of the most recognized compositions of all time. This ‘pocket symphony’ version for one piano 4 hands, violin, and cello leaves nothing out in terms of fullness and exuberance. As we approach the 40th Anniversary of the PHMS Concert Series this summer, we are thrilled to welcome back Matthew Byrne to our stage. Matthew’s songs are a way of understanding those who came before us – their lives, their work, language, and their world. Diyet & The Love Soldiers, a multi-instrumental trio from the Yukon, is alternative country, folk, roots, and traditional with catchy melodies and stories deeply rooted in Diyet’s Indigenous world view and northern life. Diyet sings in both English and Southern Tutchone (her native language) and plays bass guitar. She is backed by Love Soldiers: husband and collaborator, Robert van Lieshout and Juno Award winning producer, Bob Hamilton.
