Pender’s Community Choir sings as ‘One’ in two Spring Concerts – May 31 and June 2

Connections in life and among living things are the themes of Pender Harbour Community Choir’s concerts on May 31st at the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden and June 2nd at the Pender Harbour School of Music.

“We Are One” is the title of the choir’s Spring 2019 public performances. The program will include music ranging from traditional folk songs to works by John Lennon, Andrea Bocelli and Rodgers and Hammerstein. A composition by choir Director Kenneth Norman Johnson and choir soprano Nancy Pincombe is also planned to be included.

As spring is the season of renewal, a concert focusing on how life benefits from a supportive environment seemed a natural choice for the choir’s Director. “The songs selected for this concert focus on how working and being together, with nature and each other, strengthens us. In choral music, a variety of people and voices come together to sing as one,” said Director Johnson.

The concerts will include special performances by vocal group SASS, as well as feature solos by choir members and accompanist, well known local pianist David Poon.

Tickets for the concerts are $20 for adults. They are available for purchase from Choir members, at Strait Music in Sechelt and Earth Fair in Madeira Park. Admission is free for children under twelve years of age accompanied by an adult.

On Friday, May 31st the concert will begin at 7pm. The Sunday, June 2nd concert will start at 2pm. Both events will feature complementary snacks and refreshments at intermission.

In it’s 46th year of operation, the Pender Harbour Community Choir includes the voices of over 30 local residents.
