Joan Blackman, renowned violinist and audience favourite, has curated two contrasting afternoon programs to begin our concert series. On Saturday, August 23, Joan brings Paule Prefontaine, violin, David Stewart, viola (with a 20-year history playing together in Norway), and Amy Laing, cello, (collectively known as Venner Quartet) to share an afternoon of string quartets by some familiar and not so familiar composers played by good friends. On Sunday, August 24, Joan and colleagues Jodi Proznick, double bass, Julia Nolan, saxophone, and Jane Hayes, piano, (The Four Jays) collaborate in a relaxed concert of timeless treasures performed by internationally acclaimed musicians.
