What a trio! And what a program! Devon herself said it was “genre-bending”, so a real treat for the crowd, as they played a mix of ballads, blues, folk, jazz, bluegrass/country. Many were Devon’s own compositions and some were old standard jazz and folk songs. Devon’s rich, warm vocals were backed by several instruments, showcasing the multi-talented “band” formed by the three performers.

The sentiments in the songs and the connection between singer and audience were heart warming. And it was obvious the players were having a wonderful afternoon too.

Devon Hanley with Walter Martella, piano + trumpet, and Boyd Norman, bass, performed at the School of Music on Sunday, October 20, 2019.
