On Sunday afternoon, CÒIG, 4-person Cape Breton fiddle group on a tour of western Canada brought a traditional “down East kitchen party” to the Pender Harbour Music School. With foot stompin’ jigs and reels, a few slower ballads, one great piano solo which segued into a piano and fiddle duet, a little step dancing, and lots of Gaelic humour, the capacity crowd could hardly sit still. To everyone’s delight, at least one wee girl gave in to her impulse to dance.
