The Pender Harbour Music Society Funds
The Pender Harbour Music Society has partnered with the Sunshine Coast Foundation to provide two funds to meet your personal goals in supporting the Music Society’s future.
The PHMS Programming Fund: Supports the immediate and short-term needs of programming like our Concert Series, monthly Coffee Houses and Youth Outreach Workshops. Funds are withdrawn as needed and at the discretion request of the Pender Harbour Music Society Board of Directors while the balance is invested to maximize returns.
The PHMS Endowment Fund: Donations to this fund are held in perpetuity by the Sunshine Coast Foundation with the income from your donation granted to the Pender Harbour Music Society for long term administration, operations and capital projects. Matching Funds may be available from Heritage Canada to multiply your donation.

Ways of Giving
Every donor is unique. We are pleased to provide you with flexible ways to give and create a personalized approach to your giving.
Gifts via Credit Card – through our online donation pages at Sunshine Coast Foundation (please click on the buttons above).
Gifts via E-Transfer – through your financial institution’s website to ED@sunshinecoastfoundation.org. Please be sure to indicate if you’re donating to the PHMS Programming Fund or the PHMS Endowment Fund. Also, please indicate if you would like to be anonymous.
Gifts by Cheque – payable to Sunshine Coast Foundation (please indicate PHMS Programming Fund or Endowment Fund) and mail to PO Box 1343, Sechelt, BC V0N 3A0. Also, please indicate if you would like to be anonymous.
Gifts of Securities – make a tax-deductible gift of publicly traded securities without incurring a capital gain. This can be a great way of making a substantial gift without dipping into your cash. Please click here for instructions on making a gift of securities.
Gifts by Will/Bequeath – leave a legacy that generates benefits long after you are gone. You can choose to leave a bequest to the PHMS Programming Fund or the PHMS Endowment Fund in your Will. An official receipt for income tax purposes will be provided to your estate. Bequests can be a specific dollar amount or a residual gift (either the entire residue or a percentage of your estate).

Leaving a gift in your Will supports bringing music and music education to our community. World class performances are the norm of our annual Concert Series. Celebrating Chamber Music is the focus of two weekend festivals each year. Our monthly Friday Coffee House gives local musicians the opportunity to practice their craft and work towards their future in music. Free concerts and workshops for our local school children introduce music opportunities for students and their parents.

You Can Make a Lasting Impact
You can choose to leave a bequest to the Pender Harbour Music Society in your Will. We will provide an official receipt for income tax purposes to your estate. Once you have provided for your loved ones, you can choose between leaving a specific dollar amount, leaving a percentage of your estate, or leaving the residue.

Wording for your Will
There are many ways that your legacy can be structured. The following examples of Will clauses provide options for charitable giving to the Pender Harbour Music Society. These paragraphs are suggested language only and are not a substitute for professional legal or accounting advice.
PHMS PROGRAMMING FUND with the Sunshine Coast Foundation:
“I give the sum of $ ____ or ____% of my estate to the PENDER HARBOUR MUSIC SOCIETY PROGRAMMING FUND with the Sunshine Coast Foundation, charitable registration #896086105RR0001. It is my wish that this gift be held and invested until needed for the short term programming and projects of the PENDER HARBOUR MUSIC SOCIETY.”
PHMS ENDOWMENT FUN with the Sunshine Coast Foundation:
“I give the sum of $ ____ or ____% of my estate to the PENDER HARBOUR MUSIC SOCIETY ENDOWMENT FUND with the Sunshine Coast Foundation, charitable registration #896086105RR0001. It is my wish that this gift be held in perpetuity and that the annual grant making therefrom, as determined by the Board of the Sunshine Coast Foundation, be used for charitable grants to the PENDER HARBOUR MUSIC SOCIETY.”
