Those who attended the Katrina Bishop concert on Sunday were painted a vivid picture of what it is like to be a singer/songwriter. Before each piece, Katrina chatted about how she was inspired to write it. And the songs were varied, everything from “Idiot Driver” and “Just Another Song about Rain” to her very own protest song. And she spoke of the challenges of writing songs, like saying “fresh Swiss chard” very fast 5 times in a row and finding an acceptable rhyme for “good luck”. Katrina is blessed with a clear strong voice and she accompanied herself not only on the piano, but also on 12-string guitar, ukulele, and “strum stick”. She played many songs from her new CD which was released about two weeks ago, including “Hopscotch” a song about her best friend in childhood. Audience members who came from all over the Coast left with smiles on their faces and songs in the hearts.
